Due to widespread concerns about the protection of existing vaccines against new types of COVID-19, such as the delta variant, the minds of scientists and pharmacists are increasingly embraced by the idea of using booster vaccination.
Israel has already begun offering Pfizer booster vaccines to at-risk adults, and the United States is in talks with Pfizer to introduce these vaccines to the most vulnerable. Booster vaccines are additional doses of the vaccine that should provide increased protection against disease, as some vaccines may disappear over time. And the study showed that 95% of people who received both doses of Pfizer-BioNTech or Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID-19 had a weaker immune response to the delta variant than to previous strains.
